  • Meetings were held with potential new local hosts to facilitate exchanges between Europe and Canada.
  • This mission opens new avenues of institutional cooperation with which to promote the transfer of knowledge and the mobility of entrepreneurs.

The Instituto Tecnológico de Canarias (ITC) has carried out a strategic mission in Canada with which it strengthens its institutional links and facilitates the preparation and development of international entrepreneurial exchanges in the country. A delegation of ITC representatives traveled from May 18 to 22 to the cities of Edmonton and Vancouver with the aim of opening new avenues of international business cooperation and promoting the transfer of knowledge and technology, as well as promoting international entrepreneurship within the framework of Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs.

In the company of the network Enterprise Europe Network, this initiative deepened inter-institutional relations with the European-Canadian Centre for Innovation and Research (ECCIR) and the European Union Chamber of Commerce in Canada. In fact, ECCIR is currently working as ITC's local support office, supporting the dissemination of the program and contact with Canadian entrepreneurs.

With the aim of boosting exchanges between Canarian and Canadian entrepreneurs, the ITC team held a broad agenda of meetings with local companies that could join as ‘hosts’ to the programme. In this way, one of the most important processes of the exchange is expedited: the search for host companies that can carry out exchanges of up to three months and share their experience and knowledge with new entrepreneurs.

The agenda of meetings with host companies was articulated around the main strategic sectors for the Canary Islands and the program. Therefore, among the sectors of greatest interest identified during the mission are companies linked to the audiovisual field, renewable energies, fashion, information and communication technologies (ICT) or artificial intelligence, as well as initiatives in the agri-food and tourism fields, sectors in which opportunities for business cooperation, knowledge exchange and the development of new market solutions can arise.

With this mission, Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs continues to open avenues for international entrepreneurial mobility, strengthening the regional economic fabric with new opportunities for professional growth and boosting the two-way transfer of knowledge and experiences between Europe and Canada.

Exchange requests with Canada are open and can be made from here. Interested people can make their stay for a maximum of three months and with a monthly financial aid of € 1,050.
