The Technological Institute of the Canary Islands, through the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs program, promotes the participation of those who are starting a business project in the Canary Islands and want to gain experience and knowledge through an international stay in one of the more than 40 European and non-EU destinations.
The Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs programme, funded through the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA), facilitates the mobility of these entrepreneurs in early stages or with a business idea through temporary stays with host companies. These provide them with practical experience and useful knowledge with which to develop their own business initiatives. Likewise, those who make a stay can receive up to 1,200 € of monthly financial aid depending on the origin and destination.
The program has the last 20 places for entrepreneurs from the Canary Islands to make an international stay before the end of its current execution cycle on January 31, 2027. The mobilities can be developed in more than 40 destinations in the European Union, the Single Market Programme countries and the ‘Beyond’ destinations that were most recently incorporated: Canada, the United Kingdom, Singapore and the United States.
Stays are organised flexibly and can last from one to six months or, in the case of ‘Beyond’ destinations, up to a maximum of three months. In addition, the work plan during the exchange is established in a coordinated and consensual way between the host entrepreneur and the new entrepreneur, adjusting the experience to their needs and interests. All the people who make a stay receive a constant and personalized accompaniment by the Technological Institute of the Canary Islands to guarantee that the exchange is carried out in the foreseen terms.
Within the framework of the program, business and international support relationships are established that contribute to the development of the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the Islands, in addition to the regions visited, facilitating the creation of businesses, the internationalization of Canarian companies and the strengthening of emerging sectors. In this way, Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs provides a substantial margin of opportunity for growth, talent onboarding and knowledge transfer.
Facilities to request the stay
Recently new features have been incorporated into the communication channels of the program in the Canary Islands to facilitate the application and preparation of stays. In this way, interested users can contact the team that manages the exchanges through WhatsApp and process the request more quickly and easily through the website of the initiative in the Canary Islands.
Several improvements have also been added to discover the benefits and opportunities of the program, such as the new interactive map with the available destinations, where users can explore some of the most requested destinations, such as Portugal and Germany; or simplifying the application system to reduce the time that elapses between the time of the request for a destination and the start of the stay.
Those interested in participating and who meet the required professional profile can consult the bases of the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs program and request support for their registration, through the website.
