We travel for many reasons, in search of rest or new adventures, to discover emblematic sites or meet new people. Whatever the circumstance, travel involves an effort and has an environmental and social cost to the environment as well. Knowing this, Vanessa Mata started her own blog where she offers tricks and travel information, with guides and tours of local, national and international destinations. The Flying Squirrel, this is what its website is called, it demanded something more, it wanted to give a definitive paasio towards that mentioned tourist responsibility. This is how Vanessa decided to embark on Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs, in search of the experience and resources with which to build this new dimension of her project.
From EYE Canarias we advise Vanessa in the selection of a destination and a host. Thinking about the challenges of tourism and the opportunities associated with more responsible business models, Vanessa opted for Venice, Italy. There he became part of Venice No Stress Holiday, Tommaso Merkel's business. Over the course of 4 months, both worked together to add ideas with which to enrich each other's projects, strengthening the sustainability and quality of their proposals, underpinning new initiatives with which to guarantee the viability of Vanessa's project.
The key is to share and reinforce
During the stay, Tommaso provided Vanessa with all the information she needed to get to know the tourism sector in an area like Venice. From customer communication to sales, all areas of the business were covered throughout the stay. Thus, when the time came, Vanessa was also able to actively participate in the diagnosis and definition of a marketing strategy for Tommaso's business, in search of mechanisms with which to channel the expectations and needs of customers and putting into use the experience in the digital environment that Vanessa already brought with it.
Working hand in hand, both benefited from the knowledge they brought from two highly touristic geographical environments, such as the Canary Islands and Venice. And, of course, in the union there is strength and this case is no exception. After the end of the stay and given the good synergy developed between the two, they decided to leave the door open to future collaborations with which to extend business in international markets, generating avenues of cooperation between Italy and Spain. For Vanessa, this experience was irreplaceable and decisive in the direction of her project: “It has been one of the best summers of my life, it will undoubtedly lead to a wonderful initiative”.
